Block access to a website
It's not always possible to block sites through the hosts file. How to proceed then?
Through the Windows Defender Firewall
Note: if you have a pc with the below Firewall rule, you can
ex-/import the rule, avoiding having to type over 10 or more IP addresses.
- Switch to the Advanced settings
- Add a new Outbound Rule
- Rule Type: Custom
- Program: All programs
- Protocol and Ports: <default>
- Scope: Which remote IP addresses does this rule apply to? These addresses: w.x.y.z & a.b.c.d (e.g. be aware that msn.com & www.msn.com have separate ip addresses!!!)
- Action: Block the connection
- Profile: leave all 3 check boxes selected
- Name: Block intrusive websites
