Upgrade from drupal 8 to drupal 9 easy?

• first install a drupal development environment
• then read the release notes here: https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/releases/9.1.10
  • https://www.drupal.org/docs/upgrading-drupal/how-to-prepare-your-drupal-7-or-8-site-for-drupal-9/upgrading-a-drupal-8-site
  • https://www.drupal.org/project/upgrade_status
    - install the upgrade_status module (don't activate it yet)
    - go to the root directory of your site and execute the following commands
    (ignore any errors)

[$ composer info | grep -r "drupal/core "]
$ composer require --dev drupal/core-dev:8.9.16 [or your version of Drupal]
$ composer require 'drupal/upgrade_status:^3.0'

- now activate the upgrade_status module

- go https://www.mzt.boossy.be/en/admin/reports/upgrade-status to check what components are compatible and which are not

• Major problem is probably the MariaDB version, which is 10.0.38 on the dev environment (boossy), which is less than the required version 10.3.7. But the production environment only has version 5.5.41!
• Simple Popup Blocks: v8.x-1.2 is not compatible, but v8.x-2.8 is compatible with D9.1 according to the testing result
• Simplenews: v8.x-1.0-beta2 is not compatible, but according to the report v8.x-2.x supports Drupal 9
• Zircon theme: v8.1.3 installed - report cannot determine compatibility, but https://www.drupal.org/project/zircon/issues/3154623 states 8.x-1-dev seems to work on Drupal 9.0.1
• Taxonomy Menu: v8.x-3.4 installed - according to the report, As of 21 May 2019, Taxonomy menu 8.x-3.x-dev is already fully compatible with Drupal 9!

Drupal 8 updates

=> oplossing: minder modules tegelijk proberen updaten: bij 2 (!) lukt het (pas)

En dat lukt dan niet:

Update dan als volgt uitgevoerd (site weer bereikbaar maken via /drupal subfolder), hoewel eerste streepje zou moeten volstaan om updates te kunnen uitvoeren
- drupal/sites/default/settings.php: 3 laatste regels in commentaar zetten
- drupal/.htaccess: RewriteBase / drupal (regel 119) in commentaar zetten
- .htaccess (vd root): twee RewriteRules & twee RewriteConds in commentaar zetten

backup & restore

Backup via Akeeba verloopt probleemloos.

Restore op mzt.boossy.be via Akeeba Kickstart verloopt wat moeizamer:

• zet een werkende .htaccess en /sites/default/settings.php opzij
• restore via Akeeba Kickstart: in de stap Restoration of site's main database, als het restoren niet lukt, vink dan Stop on CREATE error en Stop on other error af
• voorafgaand aan de Clean Up kun je dan in /installation/tmp/failed_queries_site_sql.log de mislukt statements zien

Aanpassingen achteraf:

• eerst krijg je The provided host name is not valid for this server
  • zoek in /sites/default/settings.php naar trusted_host_patterns en markeer deze uit (tussen /* en */)
• vervolgens krijg je The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.
  • eveneens in /sites/default/settings.php pas je de waarden voor database, username en password aan
• daarna verschijnt de home/index wel, maar zodra je op iets klikt, krijg je een 500 Internal Server Error
  • in de .htaccess op de root van de drupal-installatie, markeer je RewriteBase /drupal uit (laat voorafgaan door #)

Daarna krijg je wel toegang tot de site.
